Christmas Club Winner is........
During our club Christmas BBQ Beach Day we hid some treasure for the guys to find!
Well actually it was just a Dive Centre Manly weight - but anyway....

If you would like to hire equipment over the holiday period then you can come in and collect on Saturday, Christmas eve, and drop everything back on Tuesday morning or for New Years, pick up everything you need on Saturday and drop it back on Monday for no extra charge!!

Dive Club Xmas Party and Beach BBQ Dive Day!
Our Club Christmas Party is being held on Friday 16th December at the fabulous Charlies Fireplace Bar at the Manly Pacific Hotel. We'll be there from 7pm onwards so come down and share a Christmas cheers with us!

If you cant make it to our Christmas Party then join us for our BBQ Beach Day at Little Manly on the 18th December!
Come for a dive, for some BBQ or for both! Meeting time at the dive shop is 10.30am for anyone who needs equipment hire then we'll head to Little Manly for 11.30am.
The sausage sizzle will start down at the beach from 1pm onwards. We'll put on the BBQ, bread, eskeys and ice, you just need to bring your snags and drinks. If you need transport we will be running the van down from the shop at the start and end of the day.

Richard will be hiding an object down under the water at Little Manly and if your the lucky finder you can win yourself an Oceanic Bud back up computer!!

Important steps for Sharks!
David Roe from Project Aware informed us of some amazing steps for sharks which have been taken in the past week as a result of everyone's hard work during the Big Shark Shout Out Week!
On November 22nd the European Commission announced the long awaited proposal for closing the loopholes in the European Union's ban on shark finning and the European Union has become a signatory to the United Nations Convention on Migratory Species (CMS) Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for Sharks.

These are important steps forward in the work to protect threatened and vulnerable shark species.

Ocean Care Day!
OCEAN CARE DAY DECEMBER 2011
Today we took part in Ocean Care Day, I (Jen) was manning our stand grabbing as many people as possible to tell them about all the amazing new products we have to offer! One being.....
The course gives an understanding of what actions you can personally take to protect sharks.
The knowledge to become an ambassador for sharks, able to influence those around you.
New insight into shark behaviour.
The course is $200 and includes-
Shark Conservation Diver home study kit
Special edition AWARE certification card
A donation to Project Aware to support their shark conservation efforts
Double boat dive to Magic Point to see the endangered Grey Nurse Sharks.
(equipment hire not included)
I had some fantastic interest in the morning! Our new Snorkel Safari Experience proved very popular!
But then.......
The rains came!!! And everyone ran away :(
But i did manage to get Mr Penguin in our tent!

This beautiful little creature was found by Janet at Shelly Beach.
She spotted 3 of them on the big pipe down the left hand side by the big rocks towards Fair Bower.
There was also a Wobbegong hiding in the pipe!

And dolphins aren't the only marine life they have been seeing, Whales have been seen frequently while on surface intervals between dives!

JERVIS BAY Diving Trip
We are off to JERVIS BAY, diving from Oceantrek, NSW's best liveaboard dive boat - Fri 25th (9pm) to Sun 27th November.
There are some amazing dive sites including Slot Cave, The Docks and Bowen Island just to name a few.
Jervis Bay has a diverse range of marine life such as the famous Weedy Sea Dragon and its not uncommon to spot some Humpback Whales and Dolphins on surface intervals!
Advanced Open Water Diver minimum certification.

So we shut up the shop Tuesday afternoon and headed down to the Skiff Club to celebrate the Melbourne Cup!!

Dive Club Members Evening a big success!!
Everyone had a blast at our Dive Club Members evening last night!
Katia was the winner of the MIKE BALL DIVE TRIP!
Everyone was very jealous, but she was thrilled!!
The staff maybe had a bit to much fun, but we deserved it after all the hard work!
